I'm one of the people Dean talks about in his TV shows - the folks that buy his stuff and then put it on the shelf. I did just that in June of 2008. In fact, I barely looked at it before I did, and I had plenty of excuses ready to justify it: unemployed, trying to start a company and work for myself, getting my own house ready to sell... all valid, and all ultimately excuses.
However, I knew there would come a time when I did pick that box back up (the "Think A Little different" program). That time was just over a month ago. I have thought of little else than real estate since! And I'm not starting from a cash-rich position, so reading about others here who have started from the same spot is truly inspiring.
I've been moving steadily along toward investing in RE, and now I'm ready to jump in. I've read/studied a ton of stuff, attended an inaugural DG Massachusetts meeting in Burlington with TDellaporta, SteveKesh (who also have journals here), Derrick, and Amy in VT (Amy, if you have a journal I apologize for not checking it out yet), spoken with RE agents, remodelers, met with a RE attorney yesterday, a mortgage broker that works with hard money lenders today, and will be attending a Meetup REI meeting tonight. I'm doing things to move forward and gain knowledge. But tomorrow...
Tomorrow begins the 100 Day Challenge. There are 100 days left in the year, which is plenty of time for me to make life-altering changes to my financial health and lifestyle - and for you to impact yours as well!!! There is actually a 100 Day challenge being run by startfastfinishstrong.com - check it out! I plan to keep track of my progress over the next 100 days through this journal - feel free to live vicariously through me, as I have been doing by reading many of your journals. Wish me luck! I wish you all the luck and success in the world.
